Mister Fanboy Movies: Remembering Tamara Dobson

Today, it was reported that Tamara Dobson had passed away. A model active in the 70s, she is probably best know for playing the title role in the Blaxploitation extravaganza Cleopatra Jones. Although Pam Grier's films are, in my opinion, the best of the bunch consistently when it comes to female blaxploitation flicks, Cleopatra Jones was probably the most fun.

The opening scene where she oversees the destruction of poppy fields by the Turkish military is so stylized that it just oozes a funky 70s coolness. The film also starred Shelly Winters as "Momma" the lesbian drug lord of Watts. Yeah, that's right. A white lesbian drug lord in Watts. Tamara kung fu'd her way through Watts taking out Momma and her gang with style. If you're not familiar with the film, check it out.
